Your First Float

What to expect

Prior to your float session:
  • Eat a small meal at least 90 minutes prior to your session;
  • Avoid caffeine;
  • Do not shave or wax 24 hours prior to your float;
  • If you've had hair coloring or spray/artificial tanning please contact the studio to speak with a Float Guide. The color can no longer be bleeding onto a towel when dried. If you've had Keratin treatments, please call us before scheduling.

Arrive at least 10 minutes early and check-in at the reception desk. We'll review the process with you, answer any questions you have and show you to one of our suites.

Remove contact lenses and put in earplugs to prepare for your pre-float shower. Shower thoroughly and wash hair.

Carefully step out of the shower and into Float Pod.

Turn off Interior Float Pod Light. Music will play for the first 10 minutes as you settle into your float session.

5 minutes before the end of your float session, music will fade in to gently bring you back.

Turn the interior pod light on when the music stops and be careful exiting the float pod.

Carefully step back into the shower to rinse off salt water and condition hair.

Get dressed and make your way to the post-float lounge to reflect on your float experience!

FAQs

WHAT DO I WEAR?
We recommend floating in your birthday suit for a couple of reasons... One, wearing a swimsuit may become uncomfortable as salt starts to dry on areas that are not in the water. Two, we want to keep the water as pure as possible. Avoiding dyes and perfumes from detergents making their way into the water is one of our top priorities!

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I FLOAT?
This is different for everyone and really depends on your specific needs. If you're floating for chronic pain, floating regularly will give you the most benefit. Generally speaking, we encourage floating at least twice a month.

DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?
Hair brush and deodorant if you wish. Towels, earplugs, and everything else that you might need for your float session are provided.

CAN I FLOAT IF I'M PREGNANT?
Yes, however we ask that you wait until after your first trimester and always recommend checking with your physician first. If you are pregnant, please let your Float Guide know so they can provide some additional support devices for your float, should you need them.

CAN I FLOAT IF I COLOR MY HAIR?
Please contact the studio to speak with a Float Guide as there are many factors at play here, including when the last time your hair was dyed, how often you wash your hair and the color dye that was used. Reds, purples, blues, pinks will continue to leach out and will stain our pods.

WHAT IF I FALL ASLEEP? No worries... It happens, and it's glorious! There's nothing putting pressure on your body so it's easy to do!

WHY DO I HAVE TO SHOWER BEFORE I GET IN?
Guests shower at the studio prior to getting in for their float for several reasons, but most importantly to ensure that dirt and chemicals (deodorant, oils, lotions, conditioner, etc.) aren't making their way into the water.

DO I HAVE TO SHOWER AFTER MY FLOAT?
Yes! There's 1,100lbs of Epsom salt in the pods. You're going to want to wash that off before putting your clothes back on and going about your day!

WHAT IF I'M CLAUSTROPHOBIC?
People with claustrophobia consistently report no problems with floating. You are in control... feel free to leave the light on, pod door open, music playing. Ease into the experience if need be.

HOW ARE TANKS KEPT CLEAN?
The salt water is fully filtered and sanitized with UV light between each float to ensure a safe and clean environment.

WHAT IF I DON'T FLOAT?
A very common question, as some people struggle to float in other bodies of water. Rest assured, because of the high density of Epsom salt, you will absolutely float.

CAN I BRING A FRIEND?
Absolutely. It can be great to have someone around to talk to about the experience afterwards.

IS FLOATING NEW?
Floating has been around for over 60 years, and has a lot of published research supporting the benefits of floating.
